Fire Safety Risk Assessment

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) is the fire safety law that applies to England and Wales. The RRO states that you must have a written fire safety risk assessment if:

1. You employ 5 or more employees;
2. A licence under an enactment is in force in relation to the premises;
3. An alterations notice requiring this is in force in relation to the premises.

Knowing what to do in the event of a fire is critical. Knowing how to prevent fires in the first place is paramount to the safety of your employees and business continuity. Having a suitable and sufficient fire safety risk assessment in place is not only a legal requirement but will help you to identify what hazards there are in your workplace, who is potentially at risk and what can be done to reduce or remove the risk.
